I’ve known Tony Lakatos for many years now, I first had the pleasure of hearing him when we shared the stage in the great drummer Al Foster’s group in the mid nineties. Tony’s always been a master of taste and swing on the tenor, and this latest album is an excellent showcase for his talents. The tunes are catchy and well-constructed, and though everyone in the band shines individually, the group spirit and relaxed interplay is what really makes this recording come to life. Tony plays with a beautiful warm sound on the tenor (and alto flute!) and an effortless sense of melody and swing, as always. Congratulations Tony on a great record, and thank you for all the beautiful music!!   Chris Potter
